I love a good music festival, I love it even more so when it’s in my home town and I can sleep in my own bed instead of a damp field (although I do enjoy doing that!). My home town plays host to two music festivals, one being Tramlines in the summer and the other is Outlines, which takes place at the start of March.
Outlines is only in it’s second year, but it’s line-up consists of some of the best up and coming bands around at the moment. It runs on 3rd and 4th March (Friday night and all day Saturday, and costs a mere £25 at the moment. Early bird tickets were only £10 which was a total bargain!) Several of the cities finest music venues play host to around 100 bands and there’s also after parties with a range of DJ’s playing the night away, sounds good doesn’t it!
Here are my top five picks for the festival:
Alvarez Kings: These are one of my favourite (local) bands and over the last year or so local boys have done good. They’ve signed for Sire/Warner Brothers, toured America and Europe and have their debut album out soon. To top it off they’re lovely gents. I’ve known them for a long while now and they truly deserve success.
When: Friday @ 7:30 Where: Plug
Post War Glamour Girls: are a band from Leeds who’ve been on my radar for a long while now. I’ve seen them play a few times and really enjoyed them.
When: Friday, 9pm Where: The Harley
Clean Cut Kid: I’m intrigued by these guys, I’ve heard a lot spoken about them but haven’t got around to seeing them, so this’ll be my chance.
When: Saturday, 4pm Where: Plug
The Crookes: I do like The Crookes, they’re one of those bands you just raise a smile at when you watch them – is their any more reason than that?
When: Friday, 9pm Where: Leadmill
Lady Leshurr: I’m a sucker for a good rap act, especially when it’s lady performer. This Lady is stylish, slick and I can’t wait to see her live!
When: Saturday, 8pm Where: Plug
Of course there’s loads of bands to see, others on my list include Logs, Girl 20, Bossy Love and many more, in fact I’m going to try and see as many as possible!
Come and join in the fun or for more information, please see the Outlines website.
