52 Weeks of Gratitude: 10 Things I Love About Spring

I guess I’m a bit late in posting this part of my 52 weeks of gratitude challenge, y’know since Spring is already on us. The trees are budding, the flowers are blooming and for the most part, the sun is shining it’s a good time of the year to be alive!

So what makes Spring sprung?!

The sunshine – I’m not a sun worshipper by any way, shape or form, but it does feel good to see it the sun rise in the morning and set in the evening. It’s a just puts a smile on everyones face (despite the fact that we’re in Spring, it did snow last night – what’s that all about?!)

Flowers blooming – This is the first thing I notice about spring, from crocuses sprouting to lanes of daffodils, it’s such a beautiful sight along with the cherry blossoms and the trees budding.

Fresh air – You can’t beat a warm spring morning, when you walk out the house and it’s still a bit chilly but there’s a glow and a warmth, it makes me ready to start my day!

Longer days – Since I work shifts, I notice the differences the changing seasons make on, not just myself, but others too. Getting up when it’s light and getting home before the sunsets, make it feel like the days are hugging you!

Beer gardens – You can’t beat a warm afternoon/evening sat outside with a nice cold beer and good company, although it can get really chilly quickly!

Going out more – I admit to hibernating in winter, I can’t help it although I’m not alone with this. It’s nice to get out and about, whether its just for a walk or see above!

Decluttering – Some people call this Spring cleaning, I’ve yet to do mine. I have to clear out some old clothes, the thought of it makes me cry! It’s a tough job, but I guess I have to do it!

Spring/Summer collections – I’d love to say I change my wardrobe with the seasons, but alas I stick to my uniform colour of everything black, except my accessories. I have to be honest though, this year I’ve been looking at some lovely bright colours that I could possibly wear.

Feeling alive – Sunshine on your face, long walks, being outside and everything I’ve discussed above, just makes you feel that bit more human!

Promise of summer – I say promise, I’d love a proper warm summer or at least when I’m on days off it’s sunny and when I’m working it rains, is that too much to ask?!

What do you like about spring? Is it your favourite season, if not what is?

  1. Exactly, what is it with snow?! I couldn’t believe it when it snowed yesterday as its May next week! I suppose that is what happens when you live in Scotland, we should be used to it by now :)! I do love the longer days and seeing the cherry blossom on the trees and although Autumn is my favourite season I do like the fresh start that Spring brings.

    1. Isn’t it just crazy all this weird weather we’re having?! I’m just hoping that’s the end of it, but I have a feeling it’s not!!
